Manager, Internal Content Strategy
Walmart
About the role
About Walmart Connect
At Walmart Connect, we connect brands to Walmart’s 150 million weekly shoppers through meaningful, measurable media experiences. We’re redefining retail media by helping advertisers reach customers where it matters most — across digital, social and in-store environments. As Walmart’s closed-loop media business, our mission is to help brands grow while enhancing the shopping experience for customers. To bring that mission to life, we need creative communicators and storytellers who can shape how Walmart Connect shows up to the world — consistently, clearly and boldly.
About the role
We’re looking for a strategic and systems-minded Manager, Internal Content Strategy to join the Brand & Content Strategy team and lead the development and scaling of how associate-facing content is created and coordinated across Walmart Connect, bringing structure and consistency to a fragmented landscape by developing and maintaining a scalable internal content architecture. The Manager will be responsible for defining org-wide standards, governance and workflows that enable content to scale across teams, while improving clarity, coordination and the overall associate experience across channels. This includes building and implementing foundational systems — such as editorial guidelines, standardized templates, a centralized content calendar and distribution practices — that are adopted across teams managing associate-facing content (e.g., internal newsletters and team-specific updates), as well as streamlining existing processes to reduce redundancy and overlap. Over time, this role will evolve to focus on optimizing content strategy and internal distribution channels, elevating key associate moments — including quarterly town halls and in-office experiences — and driving stronger engagement through more intentional programming and performance measurement.
What you'll do
- Serve as the lead for internal content and engagement strategy for Walmart Connect, establishing centralized ownership and governance across associate-facing content and channels
- Build, implement and maintain the foundational systems that underpin the internal communications architecture, including standardized templates, editorial guidelines and a centralized content calendar to drive consistency and adoption
- Audit and streamline existing associate-facing content to improve clarity, reduce redundancy and eliminate overlapping timelines across teams
- Own and optimize content distribution channels, including email lists and audience segmentation
- Partner with senior leadership, Corporate Communications and cross-functional teams to align messaging and ensure consistency across key initiatives
- Own and evolve core internal content channels, including the monthly newsletter and broader associate-facing content
- Lead content development and programming for key associate moments, including quarterly town halls
- Maintain and evolve governance for the internal content ecosystem, providing guidance to cross-functional teams on content cadence, timing and best practices to drive consistency and engagement
- Identify opportunities to enhance storytelling, engagement and the overall associate experience across channels
- Own and evolve a content performance framework, including KPIs and benchmarks, using insights to continuously optimize content and channel effectiveness
Key outputs
- Centralized internal content and engagement strategy and governance model
- Standardized templates and editorial guidelines adopted across teams
- Centralized content calendar for associate-facing channels

- Established content performance framework, including KPIs and benchmarks (e.g., newsletter engagement)
- Increased alignment and reduced overlap across associate-facing content
- Ongoing optimization of internal content and distribution systems
What you'll bring
- 5+ years of experience in internal communications, content strategy, marketing or a related field; understanding of the advertising or retail media industry preferred
- Experience developing and managing internal content strategies and programs in a cross-functional organization
- Exceptional writing and editorial skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, engaging content
- Experience owning and evolving content across multiple channels (e.g., newsletters, events, internal platforms)
- Experience supporting or leading internal events such as townhalls
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with a process-oriented approach
- Demonstrated ability to build and implement systems, frameworks and processes across teams
- Experience establishing or using performance metrics to evaluate content effectiveness and inform optimization
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with strong attention to detail, translating high-level direction into clear, executable content and programs
