Our client, an established and innovation-driven manufacturing organization with a national footprint, is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead capital projects, operational excellence initiatives, and engineering strategy across multiple sites. This role will play a critical part in scaling operations, improving efficiency, and ensuring compliance within a regulated production environment. The Director will lead and develop a high-performing engineering team while partnering closely with operations, quality, and executive leadership. This position offers the opportunity to shape long-term infrastructure and drive meaningful impact across a growing organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of capital project strategies across multiple facilities, ensuring alignment with business objectives, timelines, and budget expectations
  • Oversee engineering operations including project planning, prioritization, resource allocation, and performance tracking across a national portfolio
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders in operations, quality, compliance, and finance to deliver scalable, efficient, and compliant manufacturing solutions
  • Drive long-term capital planning, including evaluation of expansion opportunities, equipment investments, and process optimization initiatives
  • Manage external vendors, consultants, and contractors, ensuring accountability, quality of delivery, and adherence to project requirements
  • Establish and maintain robust project governance frameworks including budgeting, forecasting, risk management, and reporting structures
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Provide clear, structured communication to senior leadership and stakeholders, translating technical concepts into actionable business insights
  • Champion operational excellence initiatives focused on productivity, reliability, and cost efficiency across all sites
  • Support regulatory compliance efforts by partnering with internal teams to prepare for audits and ensure adherence to applicable standards
  • Identify opportunities to implement new technologies, automation, and process improvements to enhance operational capability
  • Drive organizational alignment through strong emotional intelligence, effective communication, and the ability to influence across diverse teams

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a professional designation preferred; advanced education considered an asset
  • 8 to 12 years of progressive experience in engineering leadership within a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Demonstrated success leading large-scale capital projects and multi-site engineering initiatives
  • High level of emotional intelligence with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments and build trust across all levels of the organization
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong financial and business acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
  • Willingness to travel periodically and support on-site initiatives as required
