Cherry Bekaert has an exciting opportunity for an Accounting Manager to become a pivotal part of our Not-for-Profit and Commercial practice. We are looking for a candidate with over 7 years of finance or accounting experience and 5 years specifically within financial systems solutions such as Sage Intacct, NetSuite, or Microsoft Dynamics.
This dynamic role is essential to support our diverse client base across all aspects of operational accounting including GL, AP, AR, payroll, and reconciliations. You will also be responsible for preparing holistic monthly financial packages, including Balance Sheets, Profit & Loss Statements, and Cash Flow Statements, as well as assistance in year-end financial statements and 1099 preparations.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations and month-end close entries, including revenue, payroll, prepaid expenses, unbilled accounts receivable, and accrued liabilities.
- Prepare and review complex reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and other general ledger accounts as necessary.
- Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Develop and maintain strong knowledge of the accounting operations of each assigned client, gaining familiarity with their accounting software.
- Assist external auditors and tax accountants by preparing schedules and providing explanations of supporting documents and procedures.
- Help in preparing year-end 1099 submissions for clients.
- Recommending, designing, and implementing controls and procedures for the department.
- Communicate regularly with clients to ensure their needs are met.
- Review and supervise the accounting team’s monthly work, including journal entries and accounts payable and receivable.
- Mentor and coach both staff and senior accountants.
- Distribute client requests among team members to meet deadlines.
- Contribute to client project management.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in nonprofit accounting, including at least 3 years in a managerial capacity.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field, with relevant accounting experience; CPA preferred.
- Proficient in automated accounting systems including Sage Intacct and/or QuickBooks along with advanced spreadsheet application skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage, mentor, and coach employees while handling multiple client requirements.
- Strong executive-level communication skills with the ability to distill large data sets effectively.
- Deep understanding of general and subsidiary ledgers and financial statements.
- Excellent project management skills, with the capability to develop and monitor engagement budgets.
- Demonstrate proactivity, innovation, and responsiveness to both client and management demands while adhering to strict deadlines.

The salary range for this position is between $130,000 and $175,000. Individual salaries are determined by various factors including role responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and geographic location.
