Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role located in Bengaluru for a Mechanical Engineer (R&D) specializing in Solid Phase Welding (Rotary, stir and Linear). This is a hands‑on role requiring 3D mechanical design, analytical calculation, materials analysis, and shop‑floor experimentation.
Core Responsibilities
- Good understanding of solid‑state welding processes, particularly Rotary Friction Welding (RFW) and Friction Stir Welding (FSW).
- Experience in designing and executing Design of Experiments (DoE).
- Good knowledge of materials science
- Ability to interpret optical microscopy results is an added advantage.
- Interest in working on test rigs and special purpose machines (SPMs), with a focus on concept development and analytical evaluation.
- Ability to manage projects independently, including thorough documentation and following a structured process.
- Knowledge of SolidWorks and PDM is desirable
- Strong understanding of fixture design and related analytical calculations.
- Willingness to work on the shop floor, actively participating in experiments related to RFW and FSW.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis on Material Science
- Proven experience in Research and Development (R&D) in mechanical or manufacturing industries
- Ability to manage projects effectively, including planning, execution, and team coordination
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and aptitude for innovation
- Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
- Prior experience in friction welding is a plus
