About the Role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Millwork Design Engineer to join our fast‑growing interior‑fit‑out team. In this role you will be the bridge between concept and construction, producing accurate 2‑D and 3‑D shop drawings for interior furniture, millwork, and custom woodwork. You will work closely with project leads, managers, architects, and clients to translate design intent into production‑ready documentation while maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance.


Key Responsibilities

Design & Drafting Project Coordination Quality & Documentation
• Create detailed 2‑D shop drawings (plans, elevations, sections) and 3‑D models for interior furniture, cabinetry, and millwork.
• Develop CNC‑ready files and material take‑offs.
• Review architectural sets, sketches, and specifications; generate a Query Document that flags assumptions, missing data, and design clarifications.
• Communicate design concepts, constraints, and technical information to Leads, Project Managers, and clients.
• Perform rigorous quality checks on dimensions, material selections, hardware, and finish schedules.
• Maintain organized, up‑to‑date drawing libraries and standard detail catalogs.
• Produce construction‑ready drawings for fabrication shops and on‑site installation teams.
• Incorporate design changes, revisions, and client feedback promptly.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (architects, interior designers, estimators, fabricators) to ensure alignment with project goals, budgets, and schedules.
• Participate in coordination meetings and design reviews.
• Track drawing revisions, issue logs, and maintain a clear audit trail for each project.
• Ensure all deliverables comply with industry standards (e.g., BIFMA, ANSI, local building codes).

Required Technical Skills

Must‑Have Nice‑to‑Have
AutoCAD – advanced 2‑D drafting and annotation.
• Strong understanding of millwork construction methods, joinery, hardware, and finish systems.
• Hands‑on experience in a millwork or custom‑furniture shop environment.
Microvellum or Cabinet Vision – for CNC programming and material optimization.
PlanSwift – for take‑off and estimating support.
• 3‑D modeling in SketchUp, Revit, or SolidWorks.

  • Hands‑On: Direct exposure to a production shop floor (cutting, CNC, assembly) is essential.

  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to industry standards of drawings and design documentation.
