Position Overview

The Senior Network Administrator will design, implement, manage, and support NIIT’s enterprise‑wide network infrastructure. You will ensure high availability, security, and optimal performance of LAN, WAN, WLAN, and VPN environments while partnering with IT leadership and cross‑functional teams to enable seamless business operations and continuous technology improvement.


Key Responsibilities

Network Administration & Maintenance • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot LAN, WAN, WLAN, and VPN architectures.
• Manage routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and related hardware.
• Perform firmware/software upgrades on network devices (WLCs, switches, firewalls, routers).
Network Security • Implement and enforce security policies (firewalls, IPS/IDS, ACLs, VPNs).
• Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and risk‑mitigation activities.
• Manage secure remote‑access solutions and ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards.
Monitoring & Incident Management • Use approved monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, Cisco DNA Center) to track device health and traffic.
• Respond to alerts, analyze logs/packet captures, and generate actionable reports.
• Lead root‑cause analysis and remediation for network incidents.
Physical & Logical Infrastructure • Install, rack, and de‑rack network equipment; perform cable management and labeling.
• Coordinate with ISPs and vendors for internet link provisioning, network tunnels, and SLA compliance.
Wireless Solutions • Configure and troubleshoot Cisco wireless controllers and access points.
• Optimize RF design, perform site surveys, and manage SSID/guest‑network policies.
Layer‑2/Layer‑3 Expertise • Operate L2/L3 switches and ISR routers; manage spanning‑tree, VTP, 802.1Q VLANs, and loop‑prevention protocols.
• Design and implement routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP) as required.
Firewall Management • Hands‑on administration of Cisco ASA/FTD/FMC, Fortinet, and Palo Alto firewalls.
• Create and maintain security policies, NAT rules, and VPN configurations.
Continuous Improvement • Evaluate emerging networking technologies and recommend upgrades.
• Document network diagrams, SOPs, and change‑management records.

Required Qualifications

Requirement Details
Education Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience 5+ years of enterprise network administration (LAN/WAN/WLAN/VPN).
Certifications • Cisco CCNP (or higher) – required.
• Cisco CCIE, Fortinet NSE, Palo Alto PCNSE, or equivalent – preferred.
Technical Skills • Deep knowledge of Cisco IOS/IOS‑XE, NX‑OS, and ISR platforms.
• Proficiency with Cisco ASA/FTD/FMC, FortiGate, Palo Alto firewalls.
• Strong command‑line and GUI experience for switches, routers, and wireless controllers.
• Familiarity with network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, Wireshark, NetFlow, SNMP).
• Hands‑on experience with VPN technologies (IPsec, SSL, DMVPN).
Security Acumen • Experience conducting security audits, vulnerability scans, and remediation.
• Understanding of industry standards (ISO 27001, NIST, PCI‑DSS).
Soft Skills • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical abilities.
• Strong communication skills for cross‑team collaboration and vendor management.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.

Preferred Skills & Experience
