Responsibilities
- Manage, maintain, and optimize operational technology data historian systems
- Ensure consistent and high-quality capture of time series data from PLCs, SCADA, sensors, and edge systems
- Diagnose and resolve data flow issues and enhance ingestion methodologies such as compression and buffering
- Design and implement secure, scalable data pipelines adhering to OT IT segmentation standards
- Create cloud ingestion workflows utilizing historian replication tools, edge gateways, IoT messaging systems, or custom pipelines
- Ensure reliable one-way movement of operational technology data to cloud environments
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture and Business Intelligence teams to establish OT data models and governance standards
- Transform raw operational technology datasets into structured, production-ready assets for analytics
- Develop repeatable data onboarding frameworks to facilitate expansion across multiple sites
- Apply enterprise naming conventions, metadata standards, and data validation protocols
- Monitor the health, latency, schema modifications, and integrity of historian systems
- Adhere to cybersecurity standards for operational technology, ensuring restricted access and compliance with network segmentation policies
- Work closely with business leaders, operations, engineering, maintenance, controls, IT infrastructure, and enterprise data teams
- Engage in design reviews, architecture discussions, and initiatives aimed at continuous improvement
- Convert plant floor requirements into scalable enterprise data solutions
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, Data Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Over 4 years of experience with operational technology systems, industrial data, or data engineering
- Practical experience with data historian platforms, such as AVEVA PI, FactoryTalk Historian, Canary, Ignition
- Skilled in data pipeline tools including SQL, Python, REST APIs, or cloud ingestion frameworks
- Familiar with industrial protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, OPC UA) and SCADA/PLC environments
- Knowledge of cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, Snowflake, or Databricks) and time-series data modeling
- Understanding of OT cybersecurity principles, segmentation, and iDMZ architectures
- Familiarity with ISA 95, IEC 62443, or OT risk management frameworks
