e&e is seeking an Operations Engineer for an onsite contract opportunity in Harrisburg, PA!

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Operation Engineer to support the performance, availability, and reliability of enterprise systems and infrastructure. This role is responsible for monitoring critical environments, troubleshooting system issues, responding to alerts, and ensuring stable day-to-day operations across Windows, Linux, and application platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in server administration, system monitoring, scripting, and enterprise application support. This position requires strong problem-solving abilities, clear communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of enterprise systems and infrastructure.
  • Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability to ensure optimal uptime and service delivery.
  • Respond to system alerts, incidents, and service requests, resolving issues or escalating when appropriate.
  • Provide direct support for outages, slowdowns, interruptions, and other production incidents.
  • Independently identify application, infrastructure, or operating system issues and take corrective action.
  • Use ticketing systems such as Remedy or ServiceNow to log, track, update, and resolve incidents and requests.
  • Coordinate vendor service calls for server and network hardware support.
  • Collaborate with application developers, system engineers, and third-party providers to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
  • Maintain thorough documentation for procedures, system configurations, operational changes, and incident resolutions.
  • Support certificate management, PKI environments, and keystore/truststore administration.
  • Assist with automation and scripting tasks to improve operational efficiency.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts related to monitoring, system stability, and operational processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in IT operations, systems administration, or infrastructure support.
  • Hands-on experience administering Windows Server environments (2016, 2019, 2022, and later).
  • Hands-on experience supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments.
  • Experience supporting enterprise application platforms such as Apache, IHS, IIS, JBoss, and WebSphere.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of certificates, PKI, keystores, and truststores.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts, TCP/IP protocols, and access/connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Experience with performance and availability monitoring tools.
  • Experience using ticketing/request management platforms such as Remedy or ServiceNow.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
