The Role

This is a platform-focused architecture role centered on building a next-generation data layer that underpins a broad application ecosystem. You will define how the platform is structured, scaled, and consumed, working across infrastructure, data systems, and developer experience. It suits someone who thinks in systems, not just tools, and is comfortable operating at both architectural and hands-on levels.

What You Will Do

• Define and evolve the architecture of a Databricks-based data platform, including core components such as data sharing, cataloging, and orchestration
• Design foundational platform capabilities such as identity models, access controls, and compute isolation to support multi-tenant usage at scale
• Translate infrastructure complexity across cloud platforms and Kubernetes into usable frameworks for internal and external development teams
• Optimize distributed data processing by addressing performance concerns such as data locality, memory usage, and high-throughput data movement
• Contribute directly to platform direction through hands-on problem solving, from system design through to debugging complex technical issues

What You Bring

• 10+ years of experience in systems, platform, or data architecture with a strong understanding of how distributed systems operate under the hood
• Deep hands-on experience with Databricks, including technologies such as Spark and Delta Lake within larger system design contexts
• Strong working knowledge of cloud-native infrastructure, including Kubernetes, containerization, and networking/security layers in Azure or GCP
• Ability to operate across strategy and execution, from shaping long-term architecture to working through low-level technical challenges with engineers
• Experience applying AI or automation to accelerate development workflows, alongside the ability to critically review generated code for quality and fit
