Principal AI Engineer - Machine Learning Specialization

Our client, a rapidly growing technology firm focused on cutting-edge AI solutions, is seeking an exceptional Principal AI Engineer to lead their machine learning initiatives. This role is based in our state-of-the-art facility in Calabar, Cross River , and is a critical position for driving innovation and technical excellence.

The Principal AI Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and deployment of advanced machine learning models and AI systems. You will tackle complex problems by applying deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and other AI techniques. This involves overseeing the entire ML lifecycle, from data acquisition and preprocessing to model training, evaluation, and deployment into production environments. You will lead research efforts into novel AI algorithms and architectures, pushing the boundaries of what's possible.

Key responsibilities include architecting scalable and robust ML pipelines, optimizing model performance, and ensuring the reliability and maintainability of AI systems. You will collaborate closely with product managers, software engineers, and data scientists to translate business requirements into effective AI solutions. Mentoring junior engineers, providing technical guidance, and fostering a culture of innovation and best practices within the AI team are also crucial aspects of this role. You will also be expected to stay current with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning, identifying opportunities to leverage new technologies.

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess a PhD or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related quantitative field. A minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in AI/ML development, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects, is essential. Deep expertise in programming languages such as Python and experience with ML frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn are mandatory. Strong understanding of distributed computing, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and MLOps principles is highly desirable.
