The Effector RF Design Team at Raytheon is searching for a highly skilled Principal Engineer to join our innovative team in Tucson, AZ.

In this pivotal role, you will lead the design and implementation of advanced antenna, radome, and radar cross section (RCS) chambers and ranges. Your leadership will guide project teams, provide technical direction, and collaborate with cross-functional engineering groups to innovate and modernize our technology. You will work closely with government stakeholders to establish and refine requirements that ascertain range and chamber compliance. Mentoring and coaching other employees in your areas of expertise will also be a key part of your responsibilities.

What You Will Do:

• Lead the development of antennas, radomes, advanced sensor systems, and RCS chambers/ranges.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary engineering teams (thermal, structural, mechanical, systems) to define, analyze, simulate, implement, and evaluate requirements for testing facilities and equipment.
• Engage with suppliers of chamber/range equipment and services.
• Oversee the implementation of new testing chambers and ranges.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, which may include:
  • Testing of antennas or radomes in a test chamber or range.
  • Operation of an antenna, radome, and/or RCS chamber/range.
  • Understanding of antenna and sensor measurement theory and range operations.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering.
• Extensive experience in simulating or estimating propagation, reflections, and scattering effects on an antenna under test (AUT) in an anechoic chamber.
• Hardware measurement for RCS.
• Significant experience in specifying, constructing, and validating antenna, radome, and/or RCS ranges/chambers.
• Proficient in Python, MATLAB, or similar scientific programming languages.
• Experience in high-performance computing (HPC) environments and schedulers like SLURM.
• Proficiency in modeling & simulation tools such as HFSS, CST, FEKO, SENTRi, and GRASP.
• Experience designing and testing conformal antennas.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• A demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills. Motivated and experienced in technical execution planning.
• Familiar with management processes such as Earned Value.
• Experience presenting in technical reviews.
• Understanding of near-field-to-far-field processing algorithms.
• Experience in designing datalink, flight termination, telemetry, and GPS antenna systems.
• Experience as a Cost Account Manager or Integrated Product Team Lead.
