Are you a recognized hardware expert capable of approaching a product as a complete system—mechanical, electrical, and mechatronic—and shaping architecture and technology decisions with long-term impact?
We are looking for a Principal Hardware Engineer to join our Mammography Hardware Engineering team, driving the technical vision, ensuring excellence in product architecture, and supporting high-level engineering teams.
Your Role
As a Principal Hardware Engineer, you are the transversal technical reference for all hardware topics, including mechanical and electromechanical design, electrical integration, and system interfaces.
You work in close collaboration with the Chief Engineer and the System Product Engineer to secure platform performance, safety, reliability, and industrialization.
Your impact is strategic, influencing both short-term engineering decisions and the long-term technology roadmap.
Main Mission
- Accountable for hardware expertise management in alignment with Chief Engineer directions and in collaboration with the System Product Engineer. Act as technical expert to the team.
- Lead the design and system integration of mechanical & Robotic components and solutions to guarantee performance and operability by leveraging existing skills and driving design owners.
- Develop and Execute Strategy for Developments leveraging 3rd parties when needed
- Drive hardware requirement management, validation/verification, design transfer. Be accountable for product safety including suspended mass risks.
- Design HW Roadmap for our platform ensuring the best cost to feature balance through accurate technical decision
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the system roadmap and own the hardware roadmap, aligning discussions with other Product Engineers and driving hardware team members (architect and senior designer).
- Propose Make or Buy strategies, leveraging external partners and framing accurate work packages by building partnerships.
- Provide senior leadership: lead and arbitrate design reviews (System Requirements Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review), mentor engineers, disseminate best practices and innovation initiatives.
- Own design authority for overall product hardware definition: select materials and surface treatments, ensure compliance with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, and apply proper mechanical design choices (machining, injection molding, sheet metal, composite, additive manufacturing) to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets.
- Drive design and integration: flow down system requirements to mechanical components; define architecture, interfaces, and constraints (performance, ergonomics, safety).
- Promote and develop accurate tools and processes (calculation, testing, design change process) across the global hardware team.
- Manage and report product hardware reliability, contribute to Cost of Quality Performance reduction, and define verification and reliability plans.
Required Skills
Technical
- Strong expertise in mechanical or/and Mechatronics design with extensive knowledge of complex system design.
- Expertise in mechanical calculations: static and dynamic analyses, fatigue, thermal; tolerance analysis; metrology. Knowledge of CAE tools is mandatory (Creo).
- Ability to lead complex Mechatronic developments in a multicultural environment involving external partners.
- Knowledge of medical regulations for imaging system is a plus.

Experience & Education
- Important experience in mechanical or mechatronics engineering, including project leadership, technical arbitration, and supplier management.
- Degree: Engineering or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent
- Languages: Fluent in French and English.
