Product Manager, AI Infrastructure
Marketech Digital Solutions
About the role
About Marketech
Marketech is a boutique email marketing agency serving mid-market DTC brands ($10–100M in revenue) on Shopify and Klaviyo. ~15 people across strategy, copy, design, and operations.
We're investing heavily in the Claude Code ecosystem to power vibe marketing – AI agents handle most of the execution; humans direct context, strategy, and quality. Our monorepo of skills, agents, and workflows is the canonical operational system behind that bet. The repo is new, the investment is significant, and the architectural decisions made over the next 12 months will shape how we operate for years.
This role owns product management for that system.
The Role
You'll lead product for our internal tools and AI infrastructure. That means running discovery with our services team, deciding what to build, owning the roadmap, and scaling internal contributors to ship the right work – work that solves real problems, fits a long-term product view, and works for all stakeholders, not just the requester.
You'll partner closely with our engineering lead, who owns architectural standards and technical execution. Your job is to make sure we build the right things; their job is to make sure we build them well. Both of you are accountable for the system's long-term health.
The four things that matter most
- Running discovery to identify the right problem and design the right solution – not just collecting stated requests and executing them. Understand the value we're trying to drive, then build toward that future.
- Designing solutions that work at the system level – across stakeholders, scaling over time, without trading tomorrow's capabilities for today's quick win.
- Matching investment to business value – knowing when to build, when to buy, and when to ignore.
- Coaching contributors to ship the right things – well-scoped, well-discovered, well-aligned with the long-term product view.
What you'll own
- The Marketech monorepo – our canonical operational system, built on the Claude Code stack. Currently ~50 agent skills and ~13 agents driving our vibe marketing operations and data analytics. The long-term goal: this becomes the primary interface every person at Marketech uses to do their work, every day. You own product direction; you partner with the engineering lead on architectural decisions.
- The Chief Bot Officer – a Slack bot that answers operational questions for the team. Currently on Python/Flask; planned migration to a managed agent architecture (essentially a Slack UI on the Marketech monorepo). You own the UX of that product.
- The n8n orchestration layer – workflows connecting Klaviyo, Monday.com, Google Workspace, Slack, and client tooling.
- The roadmap – what gets built next, by whom, and why.
- The team – 2 direct reports and 1 semi-managed contributor today, with room to grow. Your job is to scale them through process and coaching, not to do their work.
What you'll do day-to-day
- Run discovery with our content lead, flows specialist, ops manager, and other stakeholders. Identify the right problem to solve, design the right solution, and translate both into clear product briefs.
- Look past stated requests to the underlying need, then design solutions that hold up at the system level – not one-off fixes that become tomorrow's tech debt.
- Decide what we build, what we buy, and what we skip. Defend those decisions with reasoning.
- Partner with the engineering lead on architectural decisions and tradeoffs. Push back when a technical proposal doesn't match the product need.
- Coach your reports through scoping, discovery, prioritization, and communication.
- Build alongside your team, every day. You'll ship automations, agent skills, and knowledge repo content yourself – this isn't a pure management role. Your daily output sets the standard contributors learn from.
What we're looking for
- Strong product instincts. You ship things that solve problems, not just things that work.
- Comfort running discovery conversations. You can interview a stakeholder, separate stated wants from underlying needs, and translate findings into a plan.
- Long-term product thinking. You design for the system, not the request.
- Technical fluency. You don't need to write production code, but you can follow an architecture conversation, evaluate technical tradeoffs, and push back on a tech lead when their proposal doesn't match the product need.
- Experience evaluating build vs. buy through a business lens. Cost, ROI, maintainability count as much as technical elegance.
- Familiarity with automation platforms, particularly n8n.
- Comfortable using AI tools (Claude Code, etc.) as part of your daily workflow.
- Self-directed and execution-focused. This is a senior remote role with real ownership.
Bonus points
- Technical background – software engineering, technical consulting, or technical product management. You've built things, designed systems, or led clients through complex technical implementations.
- Experience leading or training product / automation contributors
- Background in martech, e-commerce, agency, or DTC environments
- Experience building AI-enabled workflows or internal tools at scale
- Familiarity with the Shopify / Klaviyo ecosystem
- Distributed team experience
None of these are required. If you think you're a strong fit for the role, apply – even if you have few or none of these. We weigh how you think over what's on your resume.
Why this role
Internal automation and AI infrastructure is the #1 long-term strategic priority for our services business. It's what lets us deliver better work to clients with a leaner team – and it's the foundation we're building the next chapter of the company on.
You'd be the senior owner of that initiative, reporting directly to the owner, with a clear runway and a strong engineering partner. Every person at Marketech benefits directly from your work – the long-term goal is for everyone in the company to use Claude Code as their daily interface for the work they do.
Over time, this role can expand to product ownership across other Marketech initiatives, including our Restore.ai product.
