About the role
Role Overview: Adam Smith International is seeking a Project Delivery Accountant to be a part of the Economic Development team. In this role, you will be responsible for undertaking critical financial and accounting tasks to ensure robust financial management, compliance, and reconciliation across all project accounts. You will work closely with Project Directors, Managers, and ASI's Corporate Finance team in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities: - Lead financial reconciliation and act as the key focal point between delivery teams, ASI Corporate Finance, and clients - Monitor project expenditure, ensuring costs are correctly coded, authorised, and aligned with contractual budgets - Review and reconcile monthly accounts, ensuring consistency between internal forecasts and corporate reports - Prepare, review, and submit invoices to the client, ensuring compliance and completeness of documentation - Monitor cash flow to support proactive financial decision-making - Work with project teams to track budget utilisation, identify risks of underspend/overspend, and prepare financial summaries for reporting - Support onboarding of new staff and associates, troubleshoot payment or contracting issues, and ensure compliance with financial processes - Ensure project financial processes align with ASI and client compliance requirements, support process improvement, and enhance data flow and reporting accuracy - Serve as the key financial liaison between delivery teams, ASI Corporate Finance, and client finance teams, build strong relationships, and provide ad hoc financial analysis and advice to project leadership
Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; a professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CA) is desirable - 3-5 years of experience in accounting, financial management, or project finance, ideally in a consulting or donor-funded context - Strong understanding of project accounting principles and reconciliation processes - Experience liaising between delivery and finance teams, working with multiple stakeholders - High proficiency in Excel and financial reporting systems - Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organisational skills - Strong communication skills, a solutions-focused approach, and familiarity with Sage would be helpful
