About the Role

We’re looking for a Project Engineering Manager, ideally with experience in DOE/government construction experience. You will work onsite at the SFHP project office near Scoville, ID as part of onsite construction support for Title 3/Resident Engineering activities. This position requires someone that can manage a multi‑disciplined staff of engineers working to maintain design configuration management and to support construction. You will plan, direct, and coordinate engineering tasks required to ensure that all construction activities adhere to the project technical baseline, and any changes required are completed in a timely manner to safely and effectively support facility construction. This position requires interaction with the client to provide information and guidance on complex engineering and construction issues.

Other day‑to‑day functions include:

  • Coordinating disposition of Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs)
  • Performing assessments on existing design
  • Responding to RFIs
  • Issuing Design Change Notices (DCNs)

Duties also include coordination with Quality Assurance on inspections/observations and supporting development of Scopes of Work for sub‑contracts with procurement and Construction groups. The Project Engineering Manager will:

  • Scope and estimate level of engineering effort
  • Coordinate field work to assess existing conditions
  • Report writing
  • Execute potential re‑design based on requirements and constructability
  • Review design development of drawings, specifications, and calculation analyses
  • Assist with cost estimating
  • Provide services during bidding and construction, including answering requests for information, bid review, shop drawing review, commissioning support, hosting progress meetings, and project closeout

Qualifications – Required

  • External B.S. in Engineering required
  • 15 or more years of engineering experience is required
  • U.S. citizenship required (to comply with government customer requirements and/or applicable government regulations)
  • Engineering Registration (PE) required in state of Idaho, or ability to quickly obtain an Idaho PE via reciprocity
  • Demonstrated experience of delivering a range of projects from concept through detailed design completion
  • Able to lead groups of engineers and designers to complete technical portions of projects within established budgets and schedules
  • Experience working within a quality system based on ISO 9000 or NQA‑1
  • Construction engineering experience
  • General understanding of discipline‑specific technical software
  • Competent using Microsoft Office software
  • Knowledge of building and design codes, including IBC, ACI, AWS, NFPA, and ASME

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in industrial/government (DOE) design
  • Experience with leading technical discussions with client
  • Ability to author technical reports
  • A person residing a commutable distance from our SFHP project office in Southeast Idaho is preferred
  • DOE experience is desirable but not required

Essential Functions

  • Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting.
  • Lifting requirements limited to 20 lb in the form of supplies, drawings, etc.
  • Longest distance carried of 50 ft.
  • Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized.
  • Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same.
  • No foot controls necessary.
  • Must be alert to equipment in the field; there will be occasional travel, will work near construction job‑site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights.

Compensation Details

$190,000 – $240,000
