About the role

About

The Chair of Systems Engineering at the Technical University of Munich (Location: Science Center Weihenstephan, Freising) is seeking a Project Manager (m/f/d) for a part-time position (50%) as soon as possible.

Responsibilities

Within various research projects, the Chair of Systems Engineering works to optimize food and bioprocesses. This research is largely financed by publicly and industrially funded projects. We are looking for a dedicated personality to strengthen our team for the administrative and organizational support of these projects. Your tasks include the coordination and administrative management of ongoing third-party funded projects, particularly with regard to the application and interpretation of funding and contract guidelines, as well as monitoring project budgets, deadlines, and fund utilization. You will be responsible for the structured organization of project-related processes and actively contribute to ensuring the compliant implementation of funding requirements. Furthermore, you will take on tasks in the implementation of personnel planning in third-party funded projects and support corresponding processes, taking into account the collective bargaining and legal framework. Another focus of your activity will be the creation and calculation of offers for research services, as well as the processing of cooperation and contract matters with external partners in coordination with the responsible departments. In addition, you will be responsible for maintaining and further developing project-related data and controlling structures and contribute to the efficient organization of administrative processes in the chair's environment.

Qualifications

Suitable applicants have completed commercial or administrative training. A university degree (e.g., Bachelor's) in a relevant field such as business administration, administrative sciences, or comparable, as well as initial experience in project management, in an administrative environment, or in dealing with third-party funded projects, are advantageous but not absolutely necessary. You work in a structured, reliable, and independent manner and have a good understanding of organizational and economic contexts. Ideally, you have basic knowledge of legal and administrative frameworks (e.g., funding guidelines, budget law, or personnel law) or are willing to quickly acquire this knowledge. Proficient use of common IT applications, especially spreadsheets and data management, as well as strong communication and teamwork skills, complete your profile.

Offer

The position is to be filled as soon as possible and offers you varied work in the environment of current scientific projects with development opportunities in the field of project management. You will work in an interdisciplinary and collegial environment with close ties to research and application. We offer you a workplace with growing personal responsibility and scope for design, as well as flexible working conditions. Remuneration will be based on qualifications and assigned tasks according to the collective agreement for public service employees of the Länder (TV-L). In case of equal suitability, qualification, and professional performance, severely disabled applicants will be given preferential consideration. TUM aims to increase the proportion of women and therefore expressly welcomes applications from women.
