About the role

About

The Chair of Process Systems Engineering at the Technical University of Munich (Location: Science Center Weihenstephan, Freising) is seeking a Project Manager (m/f/d) on a part-time basis (50%) as soon as possible.

Your Role

Within various research projects, the Chair of Process Systems Engineering works to optimize food and bioprocesses. This research is largely financed by publicly and industrially funded projects. To provide administrative and organizational support for these projects, we are looking for a dedicated individual to strengthen our team.

Your responsibilities include the coordination and administrative management of ongoing third-party funded projects, particularly concerning the application and interpretation of funding and contract guidelines, as well as monitoring project budgets, deadlines, and fund utilization. You will be responsible for the structured organization of project-related processes and actively contribute to ensuring the compliant implementation of funding requirements. Furthermore, you will undertake tasks in personnel planning for third-party funded projects and support corresponding processes, considering collective bargaining and legal frameworks.

Another focus of your activity will be the creation and calculation of offers for research services, as well as handling cooperation and contractual matters with external partners in coordination with the responsible departments. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining and developing project-related data and controlling structures and contribute to the efficient organization of administrative processes within the chair.

Your Profile

Suitable applicants possess a completed commercial or administrative apprenticeship. A university degree (e.g., Bachelor's) in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Administrative Sciences, or equivalent, along with initial experience in project management, administrative environments, or handling third-party funded projects, is advantageous but not strictly required. You work in a structured, reliable, and independent manner and have a good understanding of organizational and economic contexts. Ideally, you have basic knowledge of legal and administrative frameworks (e.g., funding guidelines, budget law, or personnel law) or are willing to quickly acquire this knowledge. Proficiency with common IT applications, especially spreadsheets and data management, as well as strong communication and teamwork skills, complete your profile.

Our Offer

The position is to be filled as soon as possible and offers you a varied role in the environment of current scientific projects with development opportunities in project management. You will work in an interdisciplinary and collegial environment with close ties to research and application. We offer you a position with growing personal responsibility and scope for initiative, as well as flexible working conditions. Compensation will be based on qualifications and assigned tasks according to the collective agreement for public service employees of the Länder (TV L). In cases of equal suitability, aptitude, and professional performance, severely disabled applicants will be given preference. TUM aims to increase the proportion of women in its workforce and therefore expressly welcomes applications from women.
