Quality Engineer

Introduction

Endless Summer Technologies, a manufacturing division of Johnson Outdoors, is seeking two permanent Quality Engineers based in La Mercy , Durban.- http://www.scubapro.co.za/

The purpose of this role requires an individual to implement and maintain an efficient quality system and ensure a high standard of quality assurance throughout a fast-paced manufacturing organization.

Duties & Responsibilities • Perform daily patrol inspections of production lines. • Compile and update work instructions, procedures, records and log sheets. • Compile internal and external non-conformance reports. • Perform inspections of both inbound components and final products. • Ensure implementation and adherence to Quality Policy and provide internal quality assurance. • Conduct thorough root cause analysis to determine effective corrective and preventive action to rectify non-conformities. • To be involved in quality training of production lines. • Document changes to quality processes. • Update of quality trackers and transfer on ERP system. • Ensure that quality concerns raised are documented and investigated. • Verify that the QC sections on the ERP system are updated daily. • Verify and update inbound component inspection standards when external test results are received. • All other duties as assigned.

Desired Experience & Qualification • National Diploma: Mechanical Engineering or equivalent • Minimum matric with mathematics and science is required • Must have minimum of 2 - 3 years’ experience within a production environment. • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft software. • Experience working on an ERP system will be advantageous. • Quality internal auditor experience and certification will be highly advantageous. • Must have experience working with a Quality Management System (ISO9001 or similar ISO certifications). • Previous mechanical laboratory testing experience will be advantageous. • Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities. Ability to effectively manage a group of people across shifts and work under deadlines while maintaining positive employee relations. • Fundamental understanding of: quality philosophies, methods, tools, standards, organizational and team dynamics, customer expectations and satisfaction, supplier’s relations and performance, interpersonal relationships, and professional ethics. • Understanding of quality systems and their development, documentation and implementation • Good communication skills - must be able to communicate and interact with all levels within the organisation. • Good technical writing ability. • Intermediate Excel and Word ability. • Attention to detail. • Strong critical thinking abilities. • Ability to work across departmental lines within the organization • Strong problem-solving abilities. • Good time management. • Flexible and willing to work weekends and shifts
