About the role
DUTIES:
- Be a testing expert and lead test engineer for the Data Platform team.
- Deliver large, high-impact initiatives, projects, and enhancements and supporting the data platform.
- Work with the QE Manager, Engineering team, Service Provider team, and others to define and deliver the testing strategy and plan and lead end-end testing activities.
- Execute test cases to support both automated and manual testing initiatives, bring new automation ideas to life, optimize test executions, and shorten testing cycles in a fast-paced development environment.
- Assume technical ownership of Service Provider deliverables and leads their technical resources to ensure high quality, compliance with our technical standards and best practices, and performance at scale.
- Research emerging technologies that will provide future capabilities and seek solutions for complex technical issues.
- Make decisions on complex, non-routine requests to support analytics-based decision-making by Marriott business teams.
- Add/Enhance and maintain the Digital QA automation strategy across Digital channels.
- Ability to assist teams with troubleshooting for automation developed script errors, and managing Git Pull and Push PRs
- Can assist manager/leadership to take technical decisions around current and future automation needs.
- Ensure maximum automation development coverage through automation to support quality releases across the digital channels.
- Partner with other QA engineers and leaders to identify gaps, opportunities, and resource needs to champion automation first mindset.
- Daily responsibilities include working with vendor resources across Digital channels in an onshore and offshore model.
- Collaborate with geographically dispersed teams while being sensitive to all cultures and norms.
- Monitor and adhere to the Automation Test Strategy and play a pivotal role in the implementation of Automation efforts across the enterprise.
- Ensure Test artifacts are consistent and of the high-quality Balance maximizing automation coverage by minimizing risk so that key business projects have a clear path to production with very low risk from lesser priority projects.
- Manage effective communication and escalations in a timely manner as needed for reducing delivery risks.
- Accountable for Planning, Estimating and Projecting automation effort estimations for new projects and initiatives.
- Define quality metrics related to automation, and drive data driven process improvements.
- Develop, review, and deliver Integration and Regression test plans to certify the product quality before production releases.
- Maintain vendor relations and periodically review their work as per Marriott standards.
- Perform other duties assigned by Digital QA leadership.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree* in Computer Science, Computer Applications or related technical field followed by 5 years of progressively responsible experience in Test Automation or Quality Assurance using open source and enterprise testing technologies using both coded and codeless automation frameworks.
Experience must include:
- 4 years of experience in creating test strategies, test plans, and test cases in the data area.
- 4 years of experience in testing the Snowflake, AWS, Nifi, PowerBI, python and/or Tableau.
- 4 years of experience using Automation tools (AirFlow, Tosca, Datagaps, Pytest, NeoLoad, TestNg and/or similar tools).
- 4 years of experience using workflow automation tools (Confluence, Jenkins and/or Service now,) in an Agile development environment.
- 4 years of experience delivering results under challenging conditions, particularly when faced with complexity, ambiguity, and execution in an Agile development model.
- 4 years of experience working in a fast-paced, Agile/Scrum engineering environment delivering incremental software with high quality.
- 4 years of experience defining and delivering automation strategy, next generation automation technologies and roadmaps.
- 4 years of experience configuring, updating, and leveraging parallels for executions in Browser stack and in Jenkins and/or Harness.
- Any combination of education that has been evaluated to be the equivalent of an U.S. degree will be accepted.
TELEWORK:
100% Remote; may be performed from anywhere within the U.S.
TRAVEL:
Travel to Marriott HQ in Bethesda MD at least one per quarter
SALARY:
$135,275 to $145,400 per year
