The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Role Overview

This position serves as an NC Department of Adult Correction (NC DAC) Regional Recruiter (Agency HR Consultant I), responsible for planning and executing recruitment initiatives for certified vacancies across an assigned region or specialty area. The role sources qualified candidates, partners with agency leadership and hiring teams, and coordinates recruitment events, candidate engagement, and reporting. It supports hiring for roles such as Correctional Officers, Probation/Parole Officers, administrative positions, trades, engineering, and other needed jobs. The position reports directly to the Recruitment Supervisor/Lead for training and specialized recruitment needs, especially for hard-to-fill roles.

Responsibilities

  • Building relationships with colleges, universities, and professional organizations to support recruitment efforts and event planning.
  • Collecting and sharing feedback with Central HR on recruitment and retention challenges and successes.
  • Attending and participating in NC DAC career events, hiring events, community job fairs, and networking opportunities.
  • Presenting to senior college students and classes about career opportunities within NC DAC.
  • Creating presentations and maintaining spreadsheets for tracking applicants and positions.
  • Using advertising, marketing, social media, and professional associations to promote positions.
  • Communicating effectively with applicants, stakeholders, and leadership, both in writing and in presentations.

Field Assignments and Geographic Coverage

Field assignments and geographic coverage within the Region will be established based on the selected candidate's primary residence. Preference will be given to candidates residing in, or near, one of the following counties: Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover, Onslow, Pender, Robeson, Sampson.
