Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Remote Data Scientist specializing in predictive modeling to join their cutting-edge technology team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within Nigeria. You will be instrumental in developing and deploying advanced statistical and machine learning models to drive business insights and product innovation. Responsibilities: Design, develop, and implement sophisticated predictive models using statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms to forecast trends, identify patterns, and drive business decisions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and business analysts, to identify key business challenges and opportunities where data science can provide solutions. Collect, clean, and pre-process large, complex datasets from various sources to prepare them for analysis and modeling. Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) to uncover insights, understand data distributions, and identify potential features for modeling. Evaluate model performance, interpret results, and communicate findings clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Deploy models into production environments, monitor their performance over time, and iterate on them as needed to maintain accuracy and relevance. Stay current with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, and explore their potential applications within the company. Develop and maintain documentation for models, methodologies, and code. Create visualizations and dashboards to communicate complex data insights effectively. Contribute to the development of data infrastructure and tooling to support advanced analytics. Mentor junior data scientists and share knowledge within the team. Ensure data privacy and security best practices are followed throughout the modeling lifecycle. Develop and test A/B testing frameworks for model validation. Champion data-driven decision-making across the organization. Qualifications: Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field. Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in data science, with a strong focus on predictive modeling and machine learning. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with relevant libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Pandas, NumPy). Solid understanding of statistical modeling techniques, machine learning algorithms (regression, classification, clustering, time series analysis, deep learning), and model evaluation metrics. Experience with SQL and working with relational databases. Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) is a plus. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail. Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to a diverse audience. Proven ability to work independently and manage projects effectively in a remote setting. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) for data science workloads is desirable. Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and methodologies.
