Remote Lead Data Scientist - Agriculture

Responsibilities: Lead the development and implementation of advanced statistical models and machine learning algorithms for agricultural applications. Analyze large, complex datasets related to crop growth, weather patterns, soil conditions, and market dynamics. Develop predictive models for yield forecasting, disease detection, and optimal resource allocation. Design and execute experiments to test hypotheses and validate models. Collaborate with agronomists, farmers, and engineers to understand data needs and deliver actionable insights. Mentor and guide a team of data scientists and analysts. Communicate complex findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and agricultural technology. Ensure data quality, integrity, and privacy. Develop data visualizations and dashboards to track key performance indicators. Contribute to the strategic direction of data science initiatives within the company. Qualifications: Ph.D. or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field. 8+ years of professional experience in data science, with a significant focus on machine learning and statistical modeling. Proven experience leading data science projects and teams. Expert proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and relevant libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, pandas). Strong experience with SQL and big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop). Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their data services. Excellent understanding of statistical principles and experimental design. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Exceptional communication and presentation skills, especially for remote collaboration. Experience in the agriculture or related scientific domain is highly desirable.
