Senior Secure Edge & Perimeter Protection Specialist

We’re looking for a Senior Secure Edge & Perimeter Protection Specialist to help design, implement, and optimize modern edge and perimeter security across multi‑cloud environments.

This is a hands‑on technical role focused on WAF protection, secure edge threat detection, bot mitigation, and network traffic analysis, with direct involvement in incident response and operational security improvements.

This role is a unique, fully-remote role with Vanguard. This position does not offer visa sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

What You’ll Do

• Design and tune secure edge and web ingress protections across multi‑cloud architectures
• Configure and manage Web Application Firewalls (WAFs) to protect against OWASP Top 10 and emerging application‑layer threats
• Act as a technical escalation point during security incidents and availability investigations
• Perform network traffic analysis and deep packet inspection using tools like Wireshark, tcpdump, and cloud‑native telemetry
• Develop and enhance bot detection and mitigation strategies
• Build and deploy secure infrastructure using IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation) integrated with CI/CD pipelines
• Align detections and controls with MITRE ATT&CK, NIST, CIS, and CSA CCM
• Partner with SIEM and SOAR teams for automated alerting, investigation, and response
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to SOC and engineering teams

What You Bring

• Deep experience with secure edge and CDN platforms (Akamai, Cloudflare, CloudFront, etc.)
• Hands‑on WAF expertise (AWS WAF, Azure Front Door/WAF, Akamai, Imperva)
• Strong skills in network traffic analysis, anomaly detection, and bot mitigation
• Experience with SIEM (Splunk, Sentinel, Elastic) and SOAR tools
• Scripting experience (Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation
• Strong investigation, documentation, and communication skills

Minimum Qualifications

• 7+ years in cybersecurity, incident response, or edge/perimeter security roles
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field
• Certifications such as GIAC Cloud Threat Detection (GCTD), GIAC Network Forensic Analyst (GNFA), Security specialization for major cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, Azure, OCI. CISSP preferred but not immediately required.
