We are hiring a Security Architect to join a growing Cyber & Information Security organisation that supports enterprise-wide security architecture initiatives. This is a hands-on architecture role focused heavily on Application Security Architecture, emerging AI technologies, and enterprise security strategy.

Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite / 2 Days Remote

Locations:

  • Rockville, MD
  • Tysons Corner, VA

Must have’s

  • Security architecture – primarily application security architecture but also understands other security spaces (IAM etc)
  • Conceptual knowledge of GenAI, LLM, MCP, etc.
  • At least high level knowledge of AWS (if strong in other cloud)

Nice to have’s

  • Ideally, former engineering, appsec pen tester background
  • Exposure working with GenAI, LLM, MCP, etc.
  • Security certifications
  • NIST, CIS, ISO industry frameworks

Responsibilities

  • Identify and define enterprise security requirements and approved security patterns across multiple security domains.
  • Build and maintain a unified security architecture framework aligned with enterprise standards.
  • Partner with Enterprise Architecture and technology teams to integrate security into enterprise initiatives.
  • Assist with development of new security architecture patterns and standards.
  • Conduct security architecture reviews for emerging AI tools, applications, and platforms.
  • Evaluate internal and external cyber threats and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Support mapping of security tools/capabilities to controls and threat libraries.
  • Maintain awareness of evolving threats, AI technologies, and cloud security best practices.
  • Provide technical guidance and risk remediation recommendations to engineering and technology teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong experience in Security Architecture with emphasis on Application Security Architecture
  • Broad understanding of enterprise security domains including IAM, cloud security, and infrastructure security
  • Conceptual understanding of:
    • Generative AI (GenAI)
    • Large Language Models (LLMs)
    • MCP and emerging AI ecosystems
  • High-level knowledge of AWS cloud security architecture (strong alternative cloud experience acceptable)
  • Ability to work closely with engineering and technology teams in a collaborative environment
  • Experience reviewing architectures, configurations, and security implementations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous background in:
    • Software Engineering
    • Application Security
    • Penetration Testing
  • Exposure working with GenAI / LLM technologies in enterprise environments
  • Security certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, AWS Security Specialty, etc.
  • Familiarity with:
    • NIST
    • CIS
    • ISO security frameworks

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a technically strong security architect who understands how systems are designed and configured, can influence engineering teams, and can help shape secure enterprise architecture patterns for modern cloud and AI-driven environments.
