Senior Accountant for Systems and Procedures Oversight

This role is part of the Government National Mortgage Association (Ginnie Mae), specifically within the Office of the Controller. Ginnie Mae plays a vital role in making homeownership accessible to low and moderate-income individuals by connecting global capital markets with housing markets across the nation. The Controller's Division oversees the classification, summarization, analysis, and reporting of accounting and budgetary transactions for all Ginnie Mae activities.

As the Senior Accountant for Systems and Procedures Oversight, you will:

Responsibilities

• Assess existing systems for potential enhancements, plan necessary modifications, manage contract support activities, ensure effective integration of accounting financial systems, oversee system control reference tables, and manage application security while providing support during various audits.
• Lead initiatives for business process improvements and automation, facilitate software implementation, obtain user acceptance, deliver system training, and provide technical assistance to users to maintain efficient day-to-day system operations.
• Oversee the design and development of system reports, manage the annual closing processes for the accounting system, assist with budgeting for annual system operations, and serve as a liaison with program users to ensure responsiveness to both internal and external clients.
• Direct the development, coordination, and maintenance of the design, adaptation, installation, evaluation, and revision of automated accounting and financial management systems.
• Evaluate existing automated systems to identify areas for improvement, including efficiencies, cost-benefit analyses, internal controls, data quality, and more. Improvements will involve automation initiatives, business process modifications, or new procedures to resolve any identified issues.
