Our client is seeking a highly innovative and experienced Senior AI Research Scientist to join their cutting-edge team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of machine learning algorithms, deep learning frameworks, and their practical applications in solving complex real-world problems. You will be instrumental in driving research initiatives, developing novel AI models, and contributing to the advancement of our client's proprietary AI platforms.

Responsibilities

• Conduct groundbreaking research in areas such as natural language processing, computer vision, reinforcement learning, or predictive analytics.
• Design, implement, and evaluate state-of-the-art machine learning models and algorithms.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams of engineers and product managers to translate research findings into deployable AI solutions.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI and machine learning, identifying opportunities for innovation.
• Publish research findings in top-tier conferences and journals.
• Mentor junior researchers and contribute to the overall technical growth of the team.
• Develop and maintain robust documentation for research projects and models.
• Ensure the ethical and responsible development of AI technologies.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related quantitative field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in AI/ML research and development.
• Proficiency in Python and relevant ML libraries (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
• Strong theoretical foundation in machine learning, statistics, and mathematics.
• Proven track record of delivering impactful AI solutions.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities, especially in a remote setting.
• Experience with large-scale data processing and distributed computing is a plus.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) for ML workloads is advantageous.

Location

This role is based remotely, but requires active participation in virtual team meetings and collaborative sessions. The opportunity is based in Klerksdorp, North West, ZA.
