Wire is hiring a Remote Backend Engineer to enhance the scalability, reliability, and security of their encrypted communication platform. This role involves developing backend services in Haskell, contributing to architectural decisions, and implementing new features within a service-oriented system. Key tasks include data architecture evolution, ensuring high-quality code, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain a secure and robust backend infrastructure.

Your responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services using Haskell
• Contribute to architecture decisions for scalability and stability
• Implement new features in collaboration with cross-functional teams
• Support data architecture evolution including PostgreSQL migration
• Ensure software quality, testing, and security by design

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years experience in scalable backend or distributed systems
• Proven Haskell backend development skills
• Knowledge of service-oriented architectures and robust system design
• Fluent English communication skills
• Experience with PostgreSQL, federated systems, or additional languages (Rust, Go) as plus
