Senior Bookkeeper (Remote – Temp to Permanent)

About

We are a small, established accounting practice looking for a mature, experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join our team on a full-time remote temp-to-permanent basis.

The ideal candidate must preferably have had previous experience working within a small accounting firm environment and be confident handling a variety of payroll, tax, and client liaison responsibilities independently.

Key Responsibilities

• Processing monthly payrolls accurately and timeously
• Submitting payroll-related statutory returns, including EMP201 / EMP501, UIF, and Workmen’s Compensation (WCC)
• Preparing and submitting tax returns
• Liaising directly with SARS and other relevant authorities
• Resolving client queries and compliance issues
• General bookkeeping and administrative support where required

Requirements

• Proven bookkeeping and payroll experience within an accounting practice
• Strong knowledge of SARS processes and submissions
• Experience with payroll systems and accounting software
• Ability to work independently and manage deadlines remotely
• Professional communication and client service skills
• Mature, reliable, and detail-oriented
• Stable internet connection and suitable home office setup
