Volkert is seeking a dynamic Senior Business Development and Marketing Manager with expertise in the AEC industry to drive our growth efforts in the Utah market. This key role will focus on developing client relationships, identifying new opportunities, and winning consulting work in engineering and construction management services. This position is not just about marketing support; it’s a senior, client‑facing role aimed at winning business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Win Work and Drive Growth

    • Lead efforts to secure new consulting contracts.
    • Identify, prioritize, and pursue high‑value opportunities.
    • Develop and execute effective capture strategies for major pursuits.
    • Transform leads into active opportunities and successful wins.
  • Build Lasting Client Relationships

    • Foster and sustain strong connections with UDOT, municipalities, and important clients.
    • Position our firm as a trusted advisor to decision‑makers and influencers.
    • Enhance services with existing clients while opening doors to new relationships.
  • Lead Strategic Pursuits

    • Craft pursuit strategies, teaming approaches, and win plans.
    • Guide proposal and interview teams effectively.
    • Coach technical staff for optimal client engagement and positioning.
  • Market Intelligence and Positioning

    • Monitor market trends, competitors, and emerging opportunities.
    • Identify potential teaming partners and strategic alliances.
    • Provide leadership with actionable insights on where to invest and pursue opportunities.
  • Represent Our Firm

    • Engage actively in industry events, associations, and client meetings.
    • Create a strong professional network that leads to new opportunities.
    • Enhance our reputation as a reliable and trusted partner.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in the AEC industry, with a strong emphasis on business development.
  • A proven track record of securing work, particularly with UDOT and municipalities.
  • Solid client relationships and a deep understanding of the Utah market.
  • Experience in leading pursuits, capture planning, and proposal strategy.
  • Willingness to travel extensively, including overnight stays 3‑5 days per week.
  • Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screening.
  • A valid driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR).
