About the Role

We are seeking a talented Senior Cloud Data Platform Engineer/Architect to join our essential team. This position plays a pivotal role in developing and managing the data infrastructure that supports our innovative products and services. Must Haves

  • Strong foundational knowledge in Computer Science and Software Engineering, particularly in Cloud Computing and Data Platforms.
  • Deep understanding of cloud computing concepts including architecture and technologies for storage (e.g., object storage, SQL, and NoSQL databases) and computing (containers, virtual machines, FaaS, workflow orchestration, etc.).
  • Experience with AI tools such as Claude Code, using them effectively throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, deployment, and operation.
  • A proactive platform-builder mindset, with experience in creating APIs and tools that enhance productivity for developers and data scientists.
  • Willingness to work from our office located in Campbell, California.
  • Authorized to work in the US (US Citizen/Green Card). We will consider H1-B transfers for exceptional candidates, but cannot support new H1-B applications.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain a scalable and secure data lake for structured and semi-structured data, ensuring flexible data governance and secure access for Data Scientists and Software Developers.
  • Build a comprehensive Data API on top of the Data Lake Platform to facilitate easy programmatic access for developers in processing, analyzing, and visualizing data.
  • Create robust data pipelines to ingest, clean, and transform data from multiple sources.
  • Develop strategies for the seamless creation and deployment of containerized applications.
  • Develop and maintain internal tools and frameworks for data ingestion using Python and SQL.
  • Monitor the performance of data pipelines and cloud infrastructure to ensure availability, low latency, and data integrity.
  • Collaborate across teams to define data models, contracts, schemas, access controls, and retention policies.
  • Adopt software development and deployment best practices including CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), and automated testing.
  • Stay updated and adapt to new cloud technologies and development best practices.
  • Maintain a strong customer-first attitude, ensuring that all technical solutions prioritize customer satisfaction.
  • Engage in architecture, design, and code reviews, upholding high standards of quality, testing, documentation, and security compliance.

Desired Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in architecting, designing, and implementing cloud solutions on AWS.
  • Experience with real-time or batch data ingestion at scale and designing fault-tolerant ETL/ELT pipelines.
  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures and messaging systems like Kafka or Kinesis.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services such as S3, Lambda, API Gateway, Glue, Kinesis, Athena, and RDS.
  • Previous experience in building data platforms with technologies like Apache Iceberg, Trino, Apache Spark, Kafka, Parquet, etc.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with remote teams.
