Role

In this role, you will design and operate the central data platform based on Azure and Databricks, ensuring it is reliable, scalable, and observable. You will be responsible for the design, construction, and further development of platform functions, including monitoring, logging, and alerting, as well as networking and connectivity. Furthermore, you will plan and optimize storage solutions with regard to performance, costs, and longevity, and drive automation and Infrastructure as Code with tools like Terraform. You will ensure the stability of the platform through structured operating procedures and incident handling and work closely with engineering, architecture, and security stakeholders. With your senior profile, you bring in profound experience in cloud platforms, distributed systems, observability, and modern engineering practices, and drive complex topics independently.

Responsibilities

• You will design, build, and improve core platform functions with a focus on reliability, scalability, and observability.
• In this role, you will implement and further develop central monitoring, logging, and alerting for the entire platform.
• As a Platform Engineer, you will manage networks and connectivity, including Azure VNet, Private Endpoints, and hybrid setups.
• You will design and optimize storage solutions with regard to performance, costs, and longevity.
• In this role, you will drive automation and Infrastructure as Code with tools like Terraform.
• You will ensure the stability of the platform through structured operating procedures, professional incident handling, and close coordination with development, architecture, and security teams.

Qualifications

• More than 5 years of experience in Platform Engineering, System Engineering, or a comparable environment.
• Very good practical knowledge of at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform).
• Deep understanding of distributed systems and modern system design principles.
• Confident use of observability and monitoring tools for metrics, logging, and tracing.
• Profound experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, especially with Terraform.
• Strong ownership mindset, independent and team-oriented way of working, as well as fluent German and English skills.
