Key Responsibilities

  • Lead use case/workstream with junior data scientists
  • Support use case development including data exploration, project/sample design, data reception and processing, analysis, modeling, and final report/presentation creation
  • Perform data wrangling, data matching, and ETL to explore diverse data sources, gain data expertise, conduct summary analyses, and prepare modeling datasets
  • Utilize advanced statistical and AI/ML techniques to create high‑performing predictive models and creative analyses that address business objectives and partner needs
  • Identify source data and conduct data quality checks during model/solution development and in production
  • Package model/solution and deploy in cooperation with Data Engineers and MLOps
  • Implement new statistical or mathematical methodologies as needed for specific models or analyses
  • Propose innovative approaches using data mining and data visualization
  • Work with stakeholders across the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions
  • Present information using data visualization techniques; communicate results and ideas to key decision makers
  • Ensure data accuracy and consistent reporting by performing regular data quality control, preparing and maintaining reports, and troubleshooting data anomalies
  • Maintain consistent accuracy and thoroughness in performing work assignments
  • Attend industry conferences to stay current on trends, challenges, and potential market opportunities
  • Contribute to standardization of Data Science tools, processes, and best practices

You Are

  • Passionate about cutting‑edge technology and applying new AI/ML algorithms and approaches
  • Analytically driven, intellectually curious, and experienced in leading the development and implementation of data and analytic solutions to solve challenging business problems
  • Enjoy collaborating with other data scientists to solve hard problems with AI/ML and seeing solutions deployed in‑market to generate value for Guardian
  • Comfortable working with a multi‑disciplinary team including data engineers, business analysts, software developers, functional business experts, and business leaders

You Have

  • PhD with 2+ years of experience, or Master’s degree with 4+ years of experience in Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field
  • 3+ years of hands‑on ML modeling/development experience
  • Solid understanding of data analysis and statistical modeling
  • Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision trees, bagging/boosting, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real‑world advantages/drawbacks
  • Demonstrated track record in experimental design and execution
  • Hands‑on experience with data wrangling, including fuzzy matching, regular expressions, distributed computing, and applying parallelism to ML solutions
  • Strong programming skills in Python
  • Solid background in algorithms and a range of ML models
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate cross‑functionally with Product, Engineering, and other disciplines at both leadership and hands‑on levels
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities with superb attention to detail
  • Proven leadership in providing technical guidance and mentoring to data scientists, with strong management skills to monitor/track performance for enterprise success

Location

  • Three days a week at a Guardian office in Boston, MA; New York, NY; Holmdel, NJ; Stamford, CT; or Bethlehem, PA

Salary Range

$118,980 – $195,465 (base pay estimate for primary location; final salary based on education, experience, knowledge, and abilities)
