Senior Data Scientist

A Day in Your Role:

At Hertz, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our analytical capabilities and driving insightful strategies as a Senior Data Scientist. You will be at the forefront of developing and implementing best practices for analytics that produce informative research, reports, visualizations, and dashboards. You will leverage both internal and external data to provide actionable insights that propel the organization forward.

Collaborating closely with data engineers, analysts, software developers, and product managers, your mission will be to utilize advanced analytics and machine learning techniques to enhance product performance, drive operational efficiency, and enable proactive, data-driven decisions across all levels of the organization. You will cultivate teamwork, foster partnerships, co-develop innovative products, share knowledge, and deliver valuable predictive insights to business teams and leadership. Your work will help identify potential risks and opportunities, influencing significant changes.

As you tackle impactful strategic initiatives, you'll employ cutting-edge technologies to solve complex challenges regarding our digital, connected fleet, pricing, and ridesharing offerings.

Your Responsibilities:

• Dissect and analyze intricate business challenges, applying analytical and machine learning methodologies to unveil patterns and correlations within large datasets.
• Lead end-to-end machine learning model development, encompassing problem framing, data architecture, feature engineering, model design, experimentation, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
• Analyze and define success metrics for current and new business initiatives, focusing especially on A/B testing.
• Design and uphold robust ETL processes to ensure data integrity and accessibility.
• Create and manage descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive models to assess the performance of new products and services.
• Establish and enact best practices for generating precise analytics, reports, visualizations, and dashboards, communicating results clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Integrate and curate data from diverse internal and external sources to produce comprehensive reports and datasets for predictive modeling.
• Engage with stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver concise analytics that provide actionable insights driving strategy and performance.
• Provide confident guidance to business leaders through your analytics and reporting, ensuring seamless execution.
• Manage the maintenance and optimization of existing ETL pipelines and dashboards.

Qualifications We Seek:

• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in data science or data analytics roles.
• A minimum of 2 years of in-depth experience with cloud-based Big Data, machine learning, and analytics technologies, preferably using Databricks.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and analytics on streaming data, such as with BigQuery, is beneficial.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools, particularly Tableau.
• Proficient in SQL and experienced with both structured and semi-structured data.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong proficiency in scripting languages, particularly Python.
• Robust problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, demonstrating a history of identifying and resolving complex issues logically and efficiently.
• Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical and non-technical information across various organizational levels.
• A bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative discipline such as statistics, mathematics, physics, or engineering.
