Senior Data Scientist

Our client, a prominent research institution, is seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to join their team. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will be responsible for designing and implementing sophisticated statistical models and machine learning algorithms to solve challenging scientific problems. Your work will involve data collection, cleaning, preprocessing, and feature engineering from diverse sources. You will conduct exploratory data analysis to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies, and develop predictive models to forecast outcomes and inform research directions. Collaboration with researchers and domain experts across various scientific fields will be crucial. You will communicate complex findings clearly and concisely through visualizations and reports, presenting your insights to both technical and non-technical audiences. Key Responsibilities: Develop and deploy advanced statistical models and machine learning algorithms. Perform data mining, data cleaning, and feature engineering on large, complex datasets. Conduct exploratory data analysis to uncover insights and patterns. Build predictive models for forecasting, classification, and regression tasks. Visualize complex data and communicate findings effectively to stakeholders. Collaborate with researchers and scientists to define analytical problems and solutions. Stay current with cutting-edge data science techniques and technologies. Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to team knowledge sharing. Develop and maintain data pipelines and analytical workflows. Evaluate and recommend appropriate tools and platforms for data analysis. Contribute to the publication of research findings. The ideal candidate will possess a Master's or Ph.D. in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline. A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in data science or a related analytical role is required. Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with relevant libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) are essential. Expertise in SQL and experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) are highly desirable. Excellent understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and experimental design. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Excellent communication and presentation skills are required for collaborating with diverse teams and presenting findings.
