The Senior Data Scientist will be responsible for the end-to-end analysis of large-scale biological datasets, including next-generation sequencing data, mass spectrometry data, and other omics data. You will collaborate closely with bench scientists, bioinformaticians, and clinicians to understand research questions, design appropriate analytical approaches, and interpret results in a biological context. Key duties include developing and implementing bioinformatics pipelines, creating compelling data visualizations, and presenting findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. A strong understanding of machine learning algorithms and their application in biological research is essential. You will also contribute to the maintenance and development of bioinformatics databases and resources.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field, with a significant focus on biological data analysis.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a bioinformatics or data science role, preferably within a research or academic setting.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R.
- Experience with bioinformatics tools and databases (e.g., NCBI databases, Ensembl, BLAST).
- Familiarity with statistical software and machine learning libraries (e.g., SciPy, NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Excellent problem-solving skills, strong analytical abilities, and the capacity to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team.
- Experience with high-performance computing environments is a plus.
