About the role

Our client, a leader in the energy sector, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Scientist with specialized expertise in energy analytics to join their innovative team. This is a fully remote position, offering a unique opportunity to drive data-informed decisions in a critical industry.

The Senior Data Scientist will be responsible for extracting insights from complex datasets related to energy production, consumption, market trends, and grid operations. You will develop advanced analytical models, predictive algorithms, and data visualization tools to support strategic decision-making, optimize energy resource management, and identify new opportunities. This role demands strong statistical knowledge, proficiency in programming languages, and a deep understanding of the energy domain.

Key Responsibilities: Collect, clean, and preprocess large, complex datasets from various energy-related sources. Develop and implement statistical models, machine learning algorithms, and predictive analytics to forecast energy demand, optimize grid performance, and analyze market dynamics. Design and build data visualization dashboards and reports to communicate complex findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Collaborate with domain experts in energy trading, grid operations, renewables, and energy efficiency to understand business needs and translate them into data science solutions. Identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in energy data to provide actionable insights. Evaluate and integrate new data sources and technologies to enhance analytical capabilities. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and energy analytics. Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to the development of data science best practices. Ensure data quality, integrity, and security throughout the analytical process. Communicate findings and recommendations clearly and concisely through presentations and reports. Qualifications: Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field. Minimum of 6 years of experience as a Data Scientist, with a strong focus on energy analytics or related quantitative fields. Proven experience in developing and deploying machine learning models (e.g., regression, classification, time series forecasting, clustering). Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and associated data science libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch). Experience with SQL and database management. Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) is a plus. Knowledge of energy markets, power systems, renewable energy integration, or energy efficiency is highly desirable. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to a diverse audience in a remote setting. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment. This is an exceptional opportunity for an accomplished Data Scientist to apply their skills to critical challenges in the energy sector, working remotely and contributing to a more sustainable and efficient energy future.
