Data Scientist - GenAI (RAG)

About the customer

For our well-known banking client in Zurich, we are looking for two experienced Data Scientists - GenAI (RAG) for an AI strategy project.

• Work Location: Zurich, Hybrid
• Start: ASAP or by arrangement
• Contract: 12 months, extension possible
• Employment: via Swisslinx AG (personnel leasing)

Responsibilities

Your tasks:

• Develop and implement robust, production-ready GenAI solutions, particularly Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), using modern AI technologies and best software engineering practices.
• Create, deploy, and maintain scalable data pipelines and APIs to support GenAI applications, inference, and real-time integration into enterprise systems.
• Collaborate with Cloud Engineers, Data Engineers, Data Scientists, other DevOps teams, and stakeholders from business units to transition prototypes into operational solutions.
• Continuously monitor and fine-tune the deployment of Machine Learning and GenAI solutions in production environments to ensure reliability, scalability, and alignment with business objectives.

Requirements

Your experience and qualifications:

• In-depth understanding of GenAI technologies, especially Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and experience in prompt and context engineering.
• Familiarity with frameworks and tools such as LangChain, LangFuse, NeMo Guardrails, SpringAI, and other leading technologies.
• Solid knowledge in Cloud Platform Engineering on Azure, with experience in Azure services (App Service, Container Apps, Azure AI Foundry, and Azure AI).
• Solid experience with CI/CD pipelines, API development for model integration, LLM tracing, observability, and Open Telemetry.
• Proficient programming skills in Python and Java, experience with modern frontend and backend technologies like Angular, NodeJS, and Spring, as well as scripting languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell).

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Expertise in building secure and scalable cloud solutions, including Azure network services (e.g., Firewall, vNET, Load Balancers), TLS encryption, SSL certificates, and development in regulated environments.
• Experience with test automation, automatic deployments, and iterative validation of GenAI solutions.
• Strong understanding of statistics, feature engineering, and model evaluation.
