Key Responsibilities

What You’ll Do Why It Matters
Coach & mentor junior data scientists and analysts, fostering a culture of continuous learning and best‑practice modeling. Build a high‑performing analytics team that delivers consistent, high‑quality insights.
Design, develop, and operationalize predictive and prescriptive models (e.g., pricing, claims severity, fraud detection) using Python, scikit‑learn, PyTorch/TensorFlow, and related libraries. Drive data‑backed decisions that improve underwriting profitability and customer satisfaction.
Collaborate cross‑functionally with product, actuarial, engineering, and business stakeholders to translate business problems into analytical solutions. Ensure models address real‑world needs and are adopted at scale.
Maintain model governance – version control, documentation, monitoring, and performance tracking in production environments. Uphold regulatory compliance and model reliability over time.
Stay ahead of the curve – evaluate emerging techniques (e.g., deep learning, causal inference, reinforcement learning) and recommend their application to business challenges. Keep the organization at the forefront of insurance analytics.
Communicate findings through clear visualizations, dashboards, and executive‑level presentations. Turn complex data into actionable insights for decision‑makers.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience: 6–9 years of hands‑on data‑science work, with a strong focus on P&C insurance (pricing, claims, risk, fraud, etc.).
  • Technical chops: Expert‑level Python programming; fluency with pandas, NumPy, scikit‑learn, PySpark, and at least one deep‑learning framework (TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras). Experience with SQL/NoSQL, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) is a plus.
  • Statistical & ML expertise: Proficient in supervised/unsupervised learning, time‑series forecasting, survival analysis, and causal inference. Ability to translate business objectives into robust analytical frameworks.
  • Business acumen: Strong understanding of insurance concepts (rating, reserving, loss development, underwriting cycles). Ability to speak the language of actuaries and underwriters.
  • Communication: Excellent storytelling skills—able to convey technical results to non‑technical audiences and influence senior leadership.
  • Leadership: Proven track record of mentoring junior talent and driving collaborative, results‑focused teams.

Nice‑to‑Have

  • Advanced degree (MSc/PhD) in Statistics, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
  • Experience with MLOps pipelines (MLflow, Kubeflow, Airflow).
  • Familiarity with GIS/spatial analytics for property risk modeling.
  • Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Machine Learning, TensorFlow Developer).

  • Flexible work schedule (remote/hybrid).

  • Retirement savings plan with employer matching.
  • Generous paid‑time‑off and parental leave.
