We provide solutions to protect governments, telecommunication infrastructures, and banking & financial institutions from the “harvest-now, decrypt-later” threat, delivering both terrestrial and space-based quantum-safe networks in live operation globally. Our Quantum Detection Systems push the limits of single-photon detection, powering breakthroughs in quantum communication, sensing, computing, and ultra-sensitive imaging in partnership with top researchers and tech innovators worldwide.
We are looking for a Senior Detector Test Engineer to join our SNSPD team in Geneva. This is a hands‑on position focused on testing, characterisation and data analysis of SNSPD devices. The role is suited for a rigorous and analytical candidate who enjoys experimental work, understands measurement challenges, and can extract meaningful insights from complex datasets. The position involves close interaction with R&D, industrialisation, and production teams to ensure that test methodologies are robust, scalable, and directly support device development and decision‑making.
What to Expect
We are seeking a Senior Detector Test Engineer to play a key role in the testing and characterisation of SNSPD devices, ensuring they meet defined procedures and performance specifications. In this hands‑on position, you will carry out measurements across a large volume of devices to evaluate yield, variability, and compliance, while operating and continuously improving cryogenic, optical, and electronic test setups. Your work will directly support the reliability and performance of advanced detector technologies.
What You'll be Doing
You will analyse complex measurement data to identify trends, performance limits, and root causes of variability, contributing to metrology efforts that enhance accuracy, repeatability, and scalability. In addition, you will develop and refine data analysis workflows and reporting tools, working closely with R&D and fabrication teams to drive device and process improvements. A strong focus on continuous improvement will be essential as you enhance test procedures, infrastructure, and data quality standards.
- Lead device testing, measurement, and setup optimisation, ensuring accurate, repeatable, and scalable characterisation processes
- Drive data analysis, workflow development, and cross‑team collaboration to improve device performance, processes, and overall data quality standards
What You'll Bring
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Senior Detector Test Engineer with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physics, Engineering, or a related technical field, and at least five years of hands‑on laboratory experience focused on testing and measurement. The ideal candidate will have strong data analysis capabilities using tools such as Python, MATLAB, or similar, alongside a solid foundation in optics, photonics, or metrology.
You will bring a deep understanding of experimental uncertainty, measurement repeatability, and data reliability, combined with an analytical mindset that connects experimental results to underlying physical behaviour. A rigorous, structured, and detail‑oriented approach is essential, along with a proactive attitude towards improving methods and tools. As a collaborative team player with strong communication skills, you will work effectively across teams, with fluency in English required and French considered an advantage.
- Strong experimental and analytical expertise, with proven experience in testing, measurement, and data analysis within a laboratory environment
- Detail‑oriented team player with excellent communication skills, fluent in English, and able to contribute proactively to method and tool improvement
You'll Be a Great Fit With
- Experience in an industrial environment is highly valued, particularly where it has contributed to a practical understanding of production processes and real‑world constraints.
- Deep knowledge of optics and photonics is essential, enabling you to apply advanced technical expertise to the development, testing, and optimisation of cutting‑edge detector technologies.
Requirements
- Strong experimental and analytical expertise, with proven experience in testing, measurement, and data analysis within a laboratory environment
- Detail-oriented team player with excellent communication skills, fluent in English, and able to contribute proactively to method and tool improvement
