Senior Network Engineer (Data Center) (m/f/d)

We provide high-performance, future-oriented e-government applications and central infrastructure for the operation of IT systems for the Free State of Bavaria.

Your Responsibilities

• Planning, design, implementation, and operation of the data center network infrastructure (including campus LAN)
• Operation and optimization of routing and switching architectures (e.g., BGP/OSPF, VLANs, L2/L3 fabric, VXLAN, SDN/EVPN)
• Further development and automation of operational processes (scripting, configuration management, Infrastructure as Code)
• Creation, ongoing maintenance, and further development of technical concepts, operational documentation, and automation scripts (e.g., Python, Bash, Ansible)
• Monitoring, analysis, and resolution of system failures; investigation and assistance in resolving security incidents
• Execution of and technical involvement in projects; collaboration on certifications according to IT-Grundschutz or comparable standards
• Close collaboration with network, security, and infrastructure teams, as well as providing technical advice to internal stakeholders

YOUR PROFILE

• Successful completion of a degree (Dipl.-FH or Bachelor’s) in Computer Science (or a comparable IT-related field of study)
• Ideally, several years of professional experience in the specified field, but applications from Bachelor’s graduates and entry-level candidates (f/m/d) are also welcome
• Several years of professional experience in network technology, ideally with the operation of data center and campus networks
• Very good knowledge and experience in network technologies and monitoring (preferably Cisco environments) as well as in relevant routing and network protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP, STP)
• Good practical knowledge of scripting (Python, Bash) and experience with automation and configuration management tools
• Experience in project management as well as in the development and implementation of technical concepts
• Very good German language skills
