While many positions at Coinbase support remote flexibility, we prioritize in-person engagement during key company events and team meetings throughout the year to enhance our collaborative spirit.

As part of the Core Automation Team, you'll be at the forefront of developing innovative AI infrastructure and automation solutions that elevate productivity and drive meaningful customer engagements. Your role will be crucial as we work on enhancing customer support and compliance processes using cutting-edge AI models and diverse data sources, including blockchain data. Your efforts will help pave the way for increased adoption of cryptocurrency and improve AI-powered customer interactions.

Key Responsibilities: • Apply advanced machine learning techniques, including large language models (LLMs) and deep learning, to address intricate challenges across the organization. • Collaborate with stakeholders to shape strategic roadmaps and translate these into actionable quarterly objectives. • Manage project execution by setting priorities, deadlines, and deliverables, utilizing your technical expertise. • Write high-quality, well-tested Python code to meet critical product and business requirements. • Design scalable and secure systems using state-of-the-art AI/ML technologies and industry best practices. • Mentor fellow team members on design principles, coding standards, and the integration of AI productivity tools. • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues to enhance system reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency. • Conduct thorough reviews to ensure the security and architectural integrity of feature designs across teams.

What You Need to Succeed: • 8+ years of experience in machine learning and software engineering. • Demonstrated experience in designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production services with a focus on data processing/machine learning/analytics. • Hands-on expertise with at least one type of ML model, such as LLMs, deep learning, gradient boosting trees, or similar. • Proficiency in areas like data mining, information retrieval, advanced statistics, natural language processing, or computer vision. • Capability to produce high-quality, well-tested code that meets customer demands. • Experience mentoring and guiding junior engineers towards professional growth. • Passion for contributing to an open financial system connecting the global community. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, committed to fostering a transparent and open culture.

Preferred Qualifications: • Degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Mining, Statistics, or a related field. • Familiarity with GenAI frameworks/tools and technologies like Apache Airflow, Spark, Flink, Kafka/Kinesis, Snowflake, and Databricks. • Understanding of model interpretability and responsible AI practices. • Expertise in data analysis and visualization techniques.

Compensation: The target annual base salary for this position ranges from $218,025 to $256,500 USD, excluding equity and bonuses.
