About the role

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Microsoft 365 Security Architect / Technical Lead to provide strategic direction, technical leadership, and hands‑on expertise in designing and implementing enterprise‑grade M365 security solutions. This role will focus on securing hybrid IT/OT environments while ensuring compliance, scalability, and operational excellence across the M365 ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic guidance, oversight, and technical leadership for enterprise‑wide M365 deployments across IT and OT environments
  • Architect, design, and implement end‑to‑end M365 security solutions across on‑premises, hybrid, and cloud (Azure & AWS) environments
  • Lead the implementation and management of M365 security and compliance tools, including:
    • Microsoft Defender (EDR, Email Security)
    • Microsoft Purview (DLP, Compliance, Governance)
    • Entra ID (Identity & Access Management)
    • Intune (Endpoint & Policy Management)
    • SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive
  • Develop and execute security strategies for Defender and Purview, ensuring full coverage across environments
  • Perform risk assessments to identify gaps in security posture and recommend remediation strategies
  • Monitor and research emerging threats, attack vectors, and evasion techniques
  • Lead technical design documentation, including architecture diagrams, implementation plans, and test strategies
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Security Engineering, SOC, Infrastructure, Compliance, and Business Stakeholders)
  • Facilitate technical working sessions and stakeholder engagements
  • Support Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and conduct Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) for security solutions
  • Develop scope, cost estimates, and deployment schedules for M365 initiatives
  • Contribute to business continuity and disaster recovery planning
  • Apply SDLC best practices in solution design, testing, and deployment

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance
  • 10+ years of experience in M365 security architecture, administration, and deployment
  • Strong hands‑on expertise with:
    • Microsoft Defender (Endpoint, Email Security)
    • Microsoft Purview (DLP, eDiscovery, Compliance)
    • Entra ID (Azure AD)
    • Microsoft Intune
    • Microsoft Sentinel
    • SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive
  • Proven experience implementing security solutions across hybrid and cloud environments
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Identity & Access Management (IAM)
    • Threat detection and incident response
    • Security telemetry and automation
  • Experience with compliance frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2)
  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting
  • Experience with O365 integrations and cloud security architecture
  • Strong documentation skills (technical reports, architecture diagrams, SOPs)
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to present to stakeholders
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Preferred Certifications

  • Microsoft Certified: MS-102 (Microsoft 365 Administrator Expert)
  • Microsoft Certified: MS-900 (Microsoft 365 Fundamentals)

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
