About the role

About ELATEC

Hidden Champion – this not only applies very well to ELATEC as a company, but also to our RFID readers. Hardly anyone notices them – yet they are omnipresent: for access to the office, at the printer, in the elevator, or at the charging station.

With over 35 years of experience, we are a technology leader and even a world market leader in individual segments. As part of Allegion plc, we combine medium-sized agility with global reach.

YOUR TASKS

As Subject Matter Lead (SML) for Embedded Testing and Test Automation, you will be responsible for the quality assurance of our products – from the test strategy to release assurance – and actively develop our QA structures, standards, and processes.

  • Test Strategy & Test Planning (SML Responsibility): Development and advancement of structured test concepts at component and system level (functional, non-functional, regression, performance, reliability including safety-relevant requirements) as well as definition of QA standards.
  • Test Case Design & Specification: Creation, prioritization, and maintenance of test cases for hardware, firmware, and embedded software, including clearly defined acceptance criteria.
  • Test Automation (Key Role): Building and advancing automated test frameworks (e.g., Python, pytest) as well as establishing scalable and reproducible test processes.
  • Test Environments & HIL Labs: Conception, setup, and operation of test infrastructures, including Hardware-in-the-Loop setups, measuring instruments, and stable, reproducible testbeds.
  • Test Execution & Analysis: Planning and execution of manual and automated tests, as well as structured analysis and prioritization of findings up to verification.
  • Verification & Validation (V&V): Systematic verification against requirements and validation of safety-critical functions and their effectiveness.
  • Release Assurance & Knowledge Transfer: Conducting release tests and final system tests, as well as active participation in release decisions, coaching colleagues, and establishing best practices.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Education: Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or comparable qualification or relevant practical experience.
  • Embedded Testing Expertise (SML Level): Several years of practical experience in testing embedded systems or hardware-related products (typically 5+ years) with the ability to independently derive and further develop test strategies.
  • Test Methodology: Sound knowledge in test design and test procedures (Unit, Integration, System, Regression, Performance).
  • Test Automation: Experience with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, pytest, Robot Framework) as well as building scalable test solutions.
  • Test Infrastructure: Experience in building and operating test environments including HIL as well as confident handling of measuring and testing equipment (e.g., oscilloscope, logic analyzer).
  • Tools & Processes: Proficient use of test management and issue tracking tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail) as well as structured test documentation.
  • Working Style & Communication: Analytical, structured, hands-on; ability to act as a technical reference within the team; good English skills and solid German skills.
  • Nice to have: Experience with RFID or radio technologies, embedded platforms like Zephyr RTOS, as well as knowledge in cloud/API testing or security testing; certifications in the testing environment (e.g., ISTQB) are an advantage.

WHY ELATEC? YOUR BENEFITS

  • Technical Key Role (SML): You are the technical reference for embedded testing and test automation and actively shape our QA standards and processes.
  • Freedom to Design: You actively develop our QA structures and test strategies and contribute your own ideas in methodology, tools, and setup.
  • High Responsibility: You actively participate in release and quality decisions and shape the assurance of our products.
  • Direct Product Proximity: You work on real hardware and complex embedded systems – not just in simulations.
  • Technological Breadth: Combination of embedded systems, hardware, security, and increasingly cloud-related components.
  • Short Decision Paths: Close, direct collaboration with development, hardware, and product management without long coordination processes.
  • Attractive Benefits: 30 vacation days, €300 health budget, 30% employer contribution to company pension scheme, as well as company events and other benefits.
