Responsibilities
- Develop and implement risk management frameworks, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct in‑depth risk assessments.
- Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of potential threats.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls.
- Work closely with various departments, including underwriting, claims, finance, and compliance, to ensure a comprehensive approach to risk management.
- Monitor key risk indicators (KRIs).
- Generate regular risk reports for senior management.
- Provide recommendations for risk mitigation strategies.
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field (required).
- Master’s degree (preferred).
Experience:
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in risk management, financial analysis, or a related role within the financial services industry (essential).
- Proven experience in developing and implementing risk assessment methodologies (expected).
Professional Certifications (highly desirable):
- FRM (Financial Risk Manager)
- PRM (Professional Risk Manager)
Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong understanding of financial markets, regulatory requirements (e.g., CBN guidelines), and various types of financial risk (credit, market, operational, liquidity).
- Proficiency in risk modeling, data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, statistical software), and risk management software.
- Exceptional analytical, problem‑solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities for presenting complex findings to diverse audiences.
- Ability to interpret financial data and regulatory landscapes.
- Strong understanding of financial products, markets, and regulatory frameworks (mandatory).
Location
Location: Yola, Adamawa, NG. This hybrid position requires a blend of on‑site collaboration and analysis with teams and management, along with remote work flexibility for in‑depth analysis, report writing, and research.
