The Platform Product Group engineers are dedicated to creating a scalable, trusted, and compliant platform that excels in efficiency and quality. This group consists of various teams, including Product Foundations (Identity, Payment, Risk, Proofing & Regulatory, Finhub), Machine Learning, Customer Experience, and Infrastructure.

The Compute team is responsible for developing and operating the Kubernetes platform - a critical compute orchestration infrastructure for our services at Coinbase. Our goal is to continuously enhance the scalability, reliability, efficiency, and operational experience associated with using Kubernetes, collaborating closely with teams focused on Routing, Security, Reliability, and Observability.

What You'll Do: • Create and automate tools to streamline the management of our Kubernetes clusters. • Enhance the developer and operational experience when interacting with Kubernetes. • Automate our Kubernetes platform to ensure it is self-healing, minimizing on-call responsibilities. • Develop new Kubernetes capabilities for service owners, including job scheduling, deployment strategies, and automated resource management. • Provide support to our customers operating critical services on Kubernetes.

What We Seek: • A minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience, specifically with Kubernetes or similar orchestration systems (e.g. Mesos, Nomad). • Strong knowledge of AWS and/or GCP infrastructure. • Proven ability to build backend services alongside infrastructure development. • A commitment to high quality, demonstrated self-starting capability, and effective interpersonal skills. • Exceptional problem-solving skills with an ability to identify and address issues comprehensively. • A talent for balancing business needs with technological solutions. • Experience scaling backend infrastructure successfully. • Familiarity with generative AI tools and an eagerness to apply human-in-the-loop practices for improved efficiency and quality.

Pay Transparency Notice: Depending on your work location, the target annual base salary for this position ranges from $218,025 to $256,500 USD. Please note that total compensation may also include bonus eligibility and benefits (medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)).
