Senior Technical Writer

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Writer to support engineering teams in the development of technical documentation for advanced electronic systems, including sensors and radar technologies. This role operates within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment and is responsible for delivering accurate, compliant, and user-focused technical publications aligned with military standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Write, edit, and revise technical documentation covering operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of complex systems
• Research and compile technical information from engineering data, system specifications, and contractual requirements
• Develop and publish documentation in multiple formats, including page-based, electronic, and structured formats (HTML, XML, SGML)
• Ensure all documentation complies with applicable military specifications and standards
• Collaborate with engineers, technical staff, instructors, and program stakeholders to develop high-quality deliverables
• Perform quality reviews to ensure accuracy, clarity, consistency, and completeness of technical publications
• Support documentation for a range of systems, including radar, communications, electro-optics, and network-based technologies
• Participate in team meetings and contribute within an IPT structure
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or related discipline, or a minimum of 7 years of relevant military operations and maintenance experience
• Experience supporting technical documentation for radar, communications, electro-optics, networks, or IT-based systems
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Willingness to perform in physically demanding environments as needed
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally, as required

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years of technical writing or engineering documentation experience
• Experience writing to military specifications and standards
• Background as a multi-disciplined professional, including experience as a military instructor
• Willingness and ability to obtain higher-level security clearance

Pay

$40.00 - $50.00 per hour
