Ready to start? Karlsruhe Branch Center: With around 700 employees, the location is our second-largest branch. A primary task is the control of upper airspace for aircraft flying over Germany but not landing here. In addition, many functions in operations, technology, and management are combined here. Give your future the right altitude. With plenty of scope for design in a company that aims to set standards in air traffic control: personally, technically, and sustainably. Support our team as soon as possible in full-time in the Technology department at the Karlsruhe site as a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE).
Responsibilities
- Responsibility for complex service architectures – from design and documentation to the entire lifecycle
- Ensuring IT security by adhering to and further developing security guidelines in architecture and operation
- Independent implementation of complex changes to designs and architectures – with an eye for technical and organizational contexts
- Building, automating, and operating platforms and services – especially a Middleware-as-a-Service with Apache Kafka
- Consulting and supporting users in the integration and further development of their applications
- Automating recurring tasks to increase efficiency and reliability
- Close collaboration with other teams to continuously improve system stability and availability
Requirements
- Completed degree in Computer Science or a comparable degree with an IT focus
- Sound knowledge in Linux system administration
- Experience with automation tools such as Puppet or Ansible
- Practical experience in operating data center platforms or cloud services (e.g., Proxy, DNS, VPN, IAM, Monitoring, Microsoft Services, Backup Tools)
- Ideally, experience in project and/or product management
- Ideally, experience with Middleware-as-a-Service, especially Apache Kafka
- Knowledge of monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana)
- Programming skills (e.g., Python) and experience in building CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with container, orchestration, and cloud solutions (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure)
- Willingness to take responsibility for critical infrastructure
- Fluent German and good English skills
- Medically fit, willingness to be on call or work shifts, and a Class B driver's license
- Willingness to undergo an extended security check according to the Security Screening Act (SÜG)
- Hands-on mentality with the aspiration not only to recognize problems but to solve them actively and independently
- Proactive mindset – you don't wait for tasks, but recognize the need for action and drive solutions independently
- Team spirit and strong communication skills – you actively contribute, share knowledge, provide input, and receive feedback
