Our team builds Cloudscape, the AWS Design System. We deliver a shared, consistent foundation used across the AWS Management Console, including reusable UI components, design tokens, and tooling that enables teams to build scalable, accessible experiences using modern web standards. Additionally, we work on genAI-powered tools that rely on the Design System to build interfaces, and accelerate design, development, and validation workflows This includes frontend frameworks, backend APIs, data modelling, infrastructure, and GenAI systems. Accessibility, security, reliability, and performance are first-class requirements. Our team is dedicated to supporting new team members. Cloudscape is a part of AWS Utility Computing (UC) which provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

Key job responsibilities

• Design and own end-to-end systems, spanning backend services, APIs, data storage, and frontend integration.
• Build and evolve GenAI-powered services that support design generation, validation, and automation workflows.
• Contribute to long-term technical vision and architecture decisions.
• Balance short-term delivery with scalable, maintainable system design.
• Work directly with customers and internal teams to understand needs and translate them into robust solutions.
• Contribute to hiring, mentor junior engineers, and raise the overall engineering bar.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience (non-internship) in professional software development
• Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
• Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
