Your Responsibilities

Engineering and Development

• Excellent skills in modern programming languages.
• Develop AI and data-based applications and safely transfer them into productive environments.
• Build efficient CI/CD pipelines and automated tests for highest quality.

Solution and Software Architecture

• Secure design of modular, highly available architectures.
• Master API design, integration patterns, and event-based systems.
• Derive precise technical solution concepts from complex requirements that remain maintainable long-term.

Platform Operations and Automation

• In-depth knowledge of monitoring, scaling, and incident management.
• Confidently use Infrastructure-as-Code, container orchestration, and agent-based automation to guarantee stable, modern platform operations.

Collaboration and Delivery

• Routinely coordinate with Data Scientists and Business Analysts in agile teams.
• Communicate technology clearly, take responsibility for end-to-end delivery, and drive continuous improvement of our development processes.

AI Engineering

• Confidently use Open-Source AI toolstacks and cloud-native technologies (like K8s).
• Take responsibility for the architecture and operation of scalable AI services and their seamless integration into our productive, state-of-the-art platform environments.

Your Profile

Experience

• Comprehensive experience in building and operating cloud-native platforms and using modern Open-Source AI toolstacks.
• Proficient in developing, integrating, and productively deploying AI-based applications and services.

Personality

• Proficient in the architecture and operation of scalable AI services in productive environments.
• Accustomed to working independently within a team, communicating complex technology understandably, and jointly setting technological standards.

Education

• Completed degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
• Possess valuable further training in cloud or AI technologies.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., Kubernetes) underscore your technical depth and professionalism.

Language

• Fluent communication with diverse customer groups.
• Formulate technical documentation precisely and present solutions confidently.
• Very good German language skills are mandatory; good English language skills are an advantage.

Insight into our Work

IT BS is the internal IT service provider for the Canton of Basel-Stadt and belongs to the Finance Department. The department provides the collaboration and communication infrastructure for mobile and stationary IT workplaces and the associated support. Additionally, IT BS continuously develops various offerings for the public in the areas of eGovernment and digitalization. Functioning IT is central to the efficient operation of the cantonal administration.

The Cross-functional Applications department drives digitalization in the Canton of Basel-Stadt. Our modular ecosystem includes eGovernment, business administration, the bs.ch website including UX/Design System, chatbots, and low-code, AI, and data platforms. As a member of the new cross-functional AI and Process Automation team, you will develop solutions that offer real added value to the cantonal administration. Through robust architectures and modern software development, you will sustainably increase customer satisfaction and actively shape the digital future of the canton.
