We are partnering with a leading organisation in the financial services and financial market infrastructure sector, based in Zurich, to recruit an experienced Software Engineering Lead (m/w/d) with transformation expertise. This role will drive a large‑scale, AI‑enabled evolution of software engineering practices across the organisation.
AI is fundamentally changing how software is built. Our client is using this opportunity to reimagine the entire Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) - from how teams are structured and how work is planned, to how code is written, tested, reviewed, and deployed.
The objective is clear: significantly faster delivery, higher quality, and a modern operating model where human expertise and AI capabilities reinforce each other.
As Lead of Software Engineering Transformation, you will own the strategy, standards, and people transformation that enable hundreds of engineers to work in fundamentally new ways. This is a high‑visibility leadership role with direct executive sponsorship and international impact.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of AI‑native software engineering specialists and test automation engineers
- Define and drive the enterprise strategy for AI‑driven software development, including engineering standards, maturity targets, and adoption roadmaps
- Lead the people and operating‑model transformation, evolving developer roles, team structures, processes, and ways of working
- Establish governance, quality, security, and compliance frameworks for AI‑assisted development
- Design and deliver a change‑management and enablement program across engineering teams in Switzerland, Spain, Poland, and India
- Measure and communicate transformation impact using productivity, delivery speed, quality, and engineering maturity metrics
- Act as a key partner to senior leadership and executive stakeholders
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 7+ years of professional experience in software engineering or transformation roles
- 4–6 years of experience leading software engineering and test automation teams
- Proven success driving large‑scale engineering or organisational transformation
- Deep knowledge of modern SDLC practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, DevOps, DevSecOps, and SAFe
- LLM enablement and training
- Fluent English (German is a strong plus)
